A story about Divorce
for your 2nd Grader.

Vivian was a dramatic girl who loved music more than anything else. She lived in a quaint town, in a cozy home filled with the sound of melodies. Her world was harmonious, just like the tunes she played on her piano.

One day, her parents sat her down. They looked serious. 'We have something to tell you, Vivian,' her mother said. 'We're getting a divorce.' Vivian felt as if someone had hit the wrong note on her piano.

Vivian didn't understand. She felt confused and sad. Her harmonious world was suddenly filled with discord. She missed the happy tunes that used to fill her home.

At her vibrant music school, Vivian struggled to concentrate. The upcoming annual music fest, which she usually looked forward to, now seemed like a daunting task.

One day, her music teacher noticed her struggle. 'Vivian,' she said, 'music is a way to express our feelings. Maybe you can write a song about what you're going through.'

Vivian thought about it. She decided to write a song about her feelings. It was hard at first, but she kept trying. She poured out all her emotions into the song.

The song was filled with notes of sadness, confusion, and longing. But as she wrote, Vivian also found notes of hope and acceptance. She realized that change can be beautiful too.

The day of the music fest arrived. Vivian was nervous, but she knew she had to share her song. She stepped onto the stage, took a deep breath, and began to play.
