The Tortoise and the Hare

A story about

for your Preschooler.

Harry the Hare stands on a patch of green grass, smiling happily. In the background, colorful flowers sway in the wind.

In a sunny meadow, a speedy hare zipped through the grass. “I’m the fastest animal in the forest!” he boasted.

Tina the Turtle peeks out from her shell with a friendly smile. In the background, tall blades of grass and tiny buzzing bees.

A slow tortoise heard the hare’s bragging. “I may be slow,” said the tortoise, “but I can still race you!”

The hare laughed and laughed. “You? Race me? That’s too funny!” But he agreed.

All the animals gathered to watch. “On your mark… get set… GO!” the owl shouted.

Harry the Hare dashing fast

The hare zoomed off in a flash. He was so fast, he soon disappeared down the path.

Tina the Turtle waddles toward the water’s edge. In the background, still water reflects the clouds.

The tortoise walked slowly—step by step. He never stopped, not even once.

Harry the Hare sleeping with his eyes closed under a tree.

Halfway through the race, the hare looked back. “That slow tortoise is far behind,” he said. “I’ll take a nap under this tree.”

Tina the Turtle walking towards a finish line down the path in the distance.

While the hare snoozed, the tortoise kept going. Step by step, he moved closer to the finish line.
