The Lion and the Mouse

A story about Kindness

for your Preschooler.

Leo rests on soft grass with his eyes half-closed. In the background, tall trees sway in the warm breeze.

One day in the jungle, a mighty lion was sleeping under a tree. His mane shimmered in the sun.

Mikey stands near a colorful flower, whiskers twitching happily. In the background, bright blossoms sway gently.

A tiny mouse ran by and accidentally tickled the lion’s nose. “ACHOO!” sneezed the lion—and woke up with a roar!

Leo with Mikey under one of his paws. Leo looks mad and is roaring!

The lion caught the mouse under his big paw. “Who dares to wake me?” he growled.

“I’m so sorry!” squeaked the mouse. “Please let me go! I promise I’ll help you someday!”

Leo laughing

The lion laughed. “You? Help me? You’re too small!” But he lifted his paw and let the mouse go free.

Leo stuck in a rope trap

Days later, the lion walked into a hunter’s trap. Ropes tangled around him, and he couldn’t escape.

Leo caught in the ropes. Mikey next to him.

He roared and roared for help. No one came… except one tiny creature.

Mikey the mouse pulling on a rope.

It was the mouse! “I remember you,” he said. “I’ll help you, just like I promised.”
