A story about Where does rain come from?
for your 2nd Grader.

Princess Zoombella loved to wander through her favorite meadow, where flowers of every color swayed in the warm breeze. She liked to watch butterflies flutter above the petals and sniff the sweet air.

One day, she noticed a small, lonely rain cloud drifting overhead. It looked gray and droopy, like it needed a hug.

Just then, Brutus, her fun-loving warthog friend, trotted up with a goofy grin. He was ready to share silly jokes and bright laughter with everyone he met.

Princess Zoombella pointed to the sad cloud. “It looks like it wants to cry,” she whispered, her heart full of kindness.

“Oh dear,” said Brutus, wiggling his short tail. “Maybe my best jokes will cheer it up! But how do we talk to a cloud?”

Princess Zoombella took a step forward and called softly, “Hello there, little cloud! Why are you so sad today?”

The cloud sighed and rumbled, “I wish I could help the flowers below, but I have no raindrops left. I gather water from lakes and rivers, but the sun has been so warm that I feel empty.”

Brutus chuckled and said, “Hey, cloud! Listen to this hilarious joke: Why do elephants wear sneakers? Because their slippers keep falling off!” The cloud let out a tiny thunder giggle.
