Under the bright morning sun, Calamity Kate rode her beloved horse into the carnival. Blinky Sparx, her shiny friend, beeped with excitement. Music floated through the air, and big colorful tents stood in a row. Kate tipped her hat and grinned. “This place sure feels magical!” she said.

All around, people danced and cheered for the Carnival of Many Lands. But something was wrong. The flags of different countries were missing! Without them, the parade could not begin.

Kate and Blinky approached the first tent marked with bright paper decorations from Mexico. A kind keeper greeted them. “Bienvenidos!” he said. “Our flag has disappeared. Without it, we cannot share our dance and music!” Blinky beeped, “We will help find it!”

Blinky lifted a folded paper scrap from under a shiny piñata. It showed part of Mexico’s proud eagle design. “This must be part of the missing flag!” Kate exclaimed.

Next, Kate and Blinky hurried to a tent decorated with painted fans from Japan. “Konnichiwa,” said the friendly keeper. “Our cherry blossom flag piece is gone. We cannot show our blossoms without it!” “No worries, partner,” said Kate. “We’ll find it soon!”

Just then, Kate spotted a small red circle peeking from under a drum. “Look!” she said. “It’s the missing part of Japan’s flag! Now we can share its bright sun with everyone.”

The pair dashed over to a tent draped in green, white, and red cloth for Italy. “Buongiorno,” said the smiling keeper. “We’ve lost our piece of the flag. How will we celebrate our tasty pizza without it?” Blinky whirred, “We will find that piece in no time!”

Calamity Kate peeked under a tall stack of pizza boxes. She pulled out a long strip of green and white fabric. “Here it is!” she cheered. “Now Italy’s flag can wave again!”
