How long does it take to make a book?
You and your kid can create a story in under 10 minutes, or spend hours wordsmithing every page and perfecting every illustration. Fable is built for the days you're feeling creative... and the days you're counting the minutes 'til bedtime. Once you've got a story you love, we'll custom print and ship it to you in under 2 weeks.
What does it cost?
Fable costs nothing during your 7-day free trial.
After that we have two different subscriptions:
Digital-Only Membership ($9 per month) and Print Membership ($25 per month).
Digital-only members get unlimited digital stories, plus the audiobook mobile app. One membership covers the whole family. Anyone can create new adventures for new characters. (Not to mention if you really love a story, you can have it printed and shipped for $19).
Print members get all of the above, PLUS one printed book credit per month (and yes, if you don't use a credit in a given month they DO roll over).
Can my child create a story without me?
Yes! We designed Fable to be safe for kids to use on their own to create any story or character they can dream up.
How does Fable handle privacy?
Fable does not share your generated images, uploaded photographs, or writing in any way. Your inputs are never used to train anyone else's algorithms! Everything you submit to Fable is kept private on secure servers.
How big are the printed books?
We print 8x8 inch glossy softcover books with 20 to 30 pages.
Is there an app?
Yes! The Fable App works on your tablet and is our recommended format for creating characters and stories. The Fable smartphone app is great for playing your custom audiobooks in the car or at bedtime. Both Apps are available on all iOS, Android, and Fire devices.
Does Fable use AI?
Fable uses a number of Large Language, Image Classification, and Image Diffusion Models to create stories. We believe these AI tools will dramatically increase the number of people who have the time and budget to write custom children's books. We also believe that when a kid defines the character or plot of a story they are more likely to be engaged in reading it and inspired to write the next one! What makes Fable different from other customized book sellers?
Fable magically creates books featuring illustrations with your kids. Other sites will charge you more than us simply for putting your child's name in the text, and the shipping may take more like 3-4 weeks. We think that's not really a fair value to you and nowhere near as fun for the kids.
